Summary for this morning's class:

On truth telling: There is a strong relationship between our speaking truthfully and having sincere hearts. Our mandate is to speak the truth in love. This requires us to be willing to speak uncomfortable truth, but wew must seek to do it in a gentle and humble way. Our desire is to speak truth in a way that leads to life, and does not serve to abuse or destroy. Also, God CANNOT lie, and Satan is the father of lies -- so Who's your daddy?

On leading small groups: There seemed to be a consensus that we should try to use the Bible as our main text, and use outside books as an exception rather than the rule. This will force us to take on the whole counsel of God, and not just neatly packaged portions of scripture. It is important for us to be able to lead a group with flexibility to deal with the group involved. This requires different approaches for different groups. Our desire is to move past just socializing to growth in our knowledge of the truth.
