January 4: Introduction
Our first session is meant to let you know the purpose of this study and to answer your questions about what this committment involves. Feel free to post any thoughts or questions that arise after our session.
Thanks to all who came this morning! It was an encouragement to me that you simply were there. Please feel free to invite other men to join us for the next week or two. I would rather not add men after January so that the necessary chemistry can form for accountability in the group.
I forgot to mention it this morning, but to those who commit to the whole program (thereby becoming my official guinee pig!), you need to commit to be there every week, if at all possible. If you know in advance that you cannot be present for a session, please let me know, and once we make the assignments, let your accountability partners know too. Your input will help to shape and sharpen everyone in the group, so I really want you to come and to voice your opinions and questions.
I Timothy 3:1 states "If anyone aspires to the office of overseer, he desires a noble task." Your desire to grow in faith, maturity, and obedience is noble and I want to encourage you for your willingness to at least give this a shot. Thanks!
And he gave the apostles, the prophets, the evangelists, the shepherds and teachers, to equip the saints for the work of ministry, for building up the body of Christ, until we all attain to the unity of the faith and of the knowledge of the Son of God, to mature manhood, to the measure of the stature of the fullness of Christ, so that we may no longer be children, tossed to and fro by the waves and carried about by every wind of doctrine, by human cunning, by craftiness in deceitful schemes. Rather, speaking the truth in love, we are to grow up in every way into him who is the head, into Christ, from whom the whole body, joined and held together by every joint with which it is equipped, when each part is working properly, makes the body grow so that it builds itself up in love.

Kevin,
The Thursday morning class looks to be real positive! I like your blog as well.
